Expensive headphones. For many years I only purchased sub-$30 headphones, thinking anything more expensive was a scam and a waste of money.
All that changed when I bought my Sennheiser HD-555’s. Not super-expensive, but definitely not cheap. Within minutes my mind was completely blown. The difference in quality was incredible! I heard things in songs I had never heard before. I now understand what audiophiles mean by a “sound-stage”, and I will never, ever go back to cheap headphones.
