You should consider buying a Kreg jig to make pocket hole joints for your future carpentry projects.
Pocket holes are stronger than a nailed or screwed butt joint (that’s the term for the joint you used if I’m not mistaken), plus they’re nicer looking. Most of Ana White’s free carpentry plans use kreg jigs.
