Which would you choose: buy your coffee preground at a coffee shop with a great grinder or only use a mediocre grinder at home?(r/Coffee)
Dude. Mediocre for sure. Fresh coffee makes worlds of difference. I’d argue that fresh whole beans ground with a hammer would end up making a better cup of coffee than pre ground. That’s a big exaggeration, but you get the point. Think of it like this. Cutting a bunch of bananas on the weekend and eating them throughout the weekday, or cutting them right before you eat them. Fresh is always best with beans.
If you’re looking for a cheap grinder, I would highly recommend the Hario Mini Mill. www.amazon.com/Hario-Mini-Mill-Coffee-Grinder/dp/B…. This baby grinds well enough for me to pull consistent shots with my espresso machine, to a great cup of french press. Best of luck, and remember, fresh is best.
