What is a scam you wish more people knew about?(r/AskReddit)
*inkjet printers
I’ve been using a $75 Brother laser printer for 5+ years and just recently changed the toner cartridge that came with it, which cost me $25. It currently says “Estimated Pages Remaining 9306 pages.”
edit: well this blew up. I have a Brother HL-2070N (now discontinued) and I will never own another inkjet again since they’re all such a waste. IMHO, the only thing that inkjets are good at are printing photos and images, which is where laser printers struggle. If I need those printed I just go to the store since paying ~$0.25 each a few times per year is much cheaper than keeping an inkjet printer happily fed with overpriced ink cartridges.
For those that asked, here’s the top selling laser printer on Amazon for $99: Brother HL-2270DW and here’s the less expensive non-netowrking model: Brother HL2230 for $69.
edit2: Some people are saying that the newer Brother laser printers come with a low capacity toner cartridge. But even then it will still be a lot cheaper than ink.
